Martyn Joseph: Vegas – COMPACT DISCS

2008 album from the British singer/songwriter. More electric and edgy, sometimes fragile, sometimes robust, Vegas has a transatlantic yet universal feel from the title track triggered by 48 hours in the glitzy gambling capital of the world to the anthemic Kindness” prompted by the homeless on a freezing Toronto street. But whether it’s songs close to home or singing from a global platform, Joseph puts an unprecedented, look the world in the eye passion into each of these 10 original tracks, amounting to an immaculate album that may just be his best yet, and that’s saying something.
